As a mum of three, I know just how quickly these years pass. One minute you’re wiping sticky hands and tying shoelaces… the next, you’re standing at the door waving them off into the world (been there, done that — and yes, the tear stains are real!). The answers to your questions

What ages are suitable for child photography sessions?

Child photography sessions are perfect for children of all ages - from toddlers and pre-schoolers right through to teenagers.

What should my child wear for their session?

I’ll always encourage you to choose something your child feels comfortable in, as that’s when their personality shines. In general, simple clothing works best — avoid large logos, bold patterns and very bright colours, as these can distract from faces in the final images. Soft neutrals, pastels and classic tones photograph beautifully, but with children you can absolutely include a pop of colour if you’d like something more lively and fun. I’m always happy to offer guidance before your session so we can choose outfits that look lovely on camera and suit the style of portraits you’re hoping for.

How long does the session last?

I never rush child photography sessions. Most last around 60–90 minutes, but everything is child-led and relaxed.

Can parents and siblings be included?

Absolutely - parents and siblings (included the furry, four legged kind!) are always welcome to join in for a few images if you’d like.

What if my child is shy or doesn’t like having their photo taken?

That’s incredibly common - and completely okay. I keep sessions relaxed, playful and pressure-free, giving children time to settle and be themselves. There’s no forcing smiles here. Some of the most beautiful images come from those quiet, in-between moments when a child forgets about the camera altogether.
