Meet your Photographer

Hi! Great to meet you and yes, this is me... in a bucket, long before photographing babies in buckets even became a thing.

I’m Lorraine, a professionally qualified newborn and family portrait photographer based in Warwickshire. I'm also a happily married mum of three, and proud Nanna to a beautiful granddaughter.

Photography has always been important to my family. I grew up with a camera in my hand thanks to my photographer dad (this image of me is one of his, which I’ve colourised), and I’ve now spent 19 years capturing precious memories for hundreds of families.

Fast Forward to Today....

Here's a more recent image of me, my hubby and my own personal muse - my youngest.

The support of my husband and wider family means more than I can put into words. They’ve been there through the busy times, the quiet moments, and yes even the menopausal mood swings that come with juggling life and a small business!

My Experience and Qualifications

I’m professionally qualified with both the British Institute of Professional Photography and the Guild of Professional Photographers, and I’ve received several awards for my work over the years.

I’ve trained with some incredible photographers, including the renowned celebrity newborn photographer Ana Brandt and acclaimed child portrait photographer Saraya Cortaville FBIPP. I've also had one-to-one tuition with Glyn Dewis from Photoshop’s World Dream Team – a real career highlight for me.

Safety is at the heart of everything I do, especially with newborns. With a background in Health and Safety, I’m passionate about promoting safe practice in an industry with very little regulation, and I’m proud to have been published in the UK and internationally for this.

Choosing a photographer is about trust as much as style. Many of my reviews mention how calm and unhurried my sessions feel, and that relaxed, baby-led approach is what allows me to create natural, meaningful images while making sure every family feels comfortable and well cared for.

I’ll end on a personal note, because it really sums up why photography means so much to me - especially in a world of filters, fast trends and fleeting images. The photos below are so special, and a beautiful reminder of how powerful photography is in keeping connections alive across generations. Preserving such memories is at the heart of what I do.

My Family Memories

My dad, whose love of photography, constant encouragement and lively film-versus-digital debates helped bring Ellie J Photography to life.

My Grandad as a boy, a talented artist in later life who shared his love of photography with his son, (my dad) and later, with me.

My Great-Gran, by all accounts a strict lady but one who thankfully, believed photographs were important!
