I’m Lorraine Jardim LBIPP QGPP, founder of Ellie J Photography, professionally qualified newborn photographer, mum of three and one of the longest-established specialist newborn photographers covering Leamington Spa and Warwickshire.

My sessions are entirely baby-led, with plenty of time for feeding, cuddles and settling. Your baby is never rushed or forced into uncomfortable positions, and their wellbeing always comes first.

Families often travel from Leamington Spa, Warwick, Kenilworth, Coventry and across the Midlands for my gentle approach, relaxed studio atmosphere and natural newborn portraits.

In 2015, twelve of my newborn portraits were selected for permanent display within the Labour and Swan wards at South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust - a huge honour and something I remain incredibly proud of today.

Newborn Safety Always Comes First

Your baby’s safety and comfort are at the heart of every newborn session at Ellie J Photography.

With a background in health and safety alongside nearly 20 years of specialist newborn photography experience, I take a gentle, baby-led approach at all times.

Babies are never forced into positions they are uncomfortable with, and every pose is carefully supported and guided around your little one’s natural flexibility and comfort levels.

I’m also known for my safe newborn photography with dogs, using careful handling techniques and composite editing where appropriate to ensure both baby and pet remain safe throughout.

Your Newborn Photography Session

Newborn sessions are ideally booked during pregnancy, with the actual session usually taking place within the first two to three weeks after birth while babies are still naturally sleepy and curled up.

That said, please don’t panic if your baby is already here. I have extensive experience photographing older newborns too, and beautiful images can absolutely still be created after those early weeks.

Sessions are calm, flexible and completely tailored to your baby. I follow their lead throughout, allowing plenty of time for feeding, comforting and breaks whenever needed.

Many parents tell me the experience feels far more relaxed than they expected - and that’s exactly how it should be.

Studio Newborn Session Fee: £60

Your newborn session includes:

- Pre-session preparation guide

- My time, experience and expertise

- Family, sibling and dog portraits if desired

- Use of wraps, props and accessories

- Careful professional editing of your images

- Optional social media preview image

- An online proofing gallery from which to select your images

The session fee secures your booking. Image collections are purchased separately once you have viewed your finished gallery.

It’s always best to reserve your due date during pregnancy as availability can become limited.

The answers to your questions
When should I book my newborn photography session?
Ideally during your second trimester to guarantee availability. Your session date itself is then arranged once baby arrives.
What age is best for newborn photos?
Sleepy posed newborn portraits are most commonly photographed within the first two weeks, but older newborn sessions can still produce beautiful images. I regularly photograph babies beyond this stage.
How long does a newborn photography session last?
Sessions are completely baby-led and usually last between 2-3 hours, although I recommend allowing up to 4 hours so there is never any pressure
Can parents, siblings and pets be included?
Absolutely. Parents, siblings and well-behaved dogs are always welcome to be part of your newborn portraits.
What if my baby won’t settle on the day?
Please don’t worry. This is incredibly common and completely normal. With nearly 20 years of newborn photography experience, I work patiently and gently to keep sessions calm and stress-free.

The Ellie J Photography studio is based in the beautiful Warwickshire village of Fillongley, within easy reach of Leamington Spa, Warwick, Kenilworth, Coventry and surrounding areas.

The studio has been designed specifically for newborn and family photography, with comfortable seating, baby changing facilities and off-road parking for parents.
