A First Birthday to Remember. Cake smash sessions are a fantastic way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday - full of colour, laughter, messy fingers and gorgeous smiles. And once the cake is demolished, we finish with a bubbly bath so you get a nice clean baby for the journey home! From first tastes to big reactions, these sessions are designed to capture the magic of turning one in the most memorable way.

What’s Included in Your Cake Smash & Splash Session

Your cake smash session is relaxed, fun and completely tailored to your baby. We’ll begin by capturing clean portraits of your baby before the cake, along with an updated family photo at the start of the session if you’d like one.

Then it’s time for the main event - you bring the cake and I’ll take care of the rest. Older siblings are welcome to join in for one or two cake smash images if you don't mind the mess!

Once the cake has been thoroughly enjoyed, we finish with a post-smash bubble bath session in my miniature roll-top tub, which always brings plenty of giggles and smiles and ensures you have a nice clean baby to take home!

The session fee for your Cake Smash & Splash Photography is £60. This secures your session date and you’ll pay nothing more until you’ve seen your finished images and chosen your favourites.

Images are purchased separately, with full collection details and payment options available.

FAQs About My Cake Smash & Splash Photography Sessions

When should I book my cake smash session?

Most parents book their cake smash when their baby is around 10–11 months old so the images are ready for their first birthday celebrations. Alternatively, you can book in for around your child's birthday to add to the celebrations!

Do you provide the cake?

I ask that you bring your own cake, which gives you complete control over the ingredients, size, flavour and style. This is especially important to me as my own son has a severe, life-threatening food allergy, so I never take risks when it comes to what little ones are eating.

For safety reasons, I always recommend avoiding any potential choking hazards, and from a photography point of view I also suggest steering clear of brown icing… it just doesn’t photograph very nicely!

The cake doesn’t need to be fancy - a simple, soft sponge with buttercream that’s easy for little hands to explore will photograph beautifully and make the whole smash experience more enjoyable for your baby. Size is an important consideration too - 4" - 6" inches is great, we don't want the cake so big that it takes attention away from baby and makes it difficult for baby to smash.

What should my baby wear?

Simple outfits work beautifully. You are welcome to bring your own or borrow one of mine. I’m always happy to help you choose something perfect for your session.

How long does the session last?

I never put a strict time limit on any sessions with babies, but most cake smash sessions take around 60–90 minutes. I allow plenty of time for cuddles, cake, splash time and settling in if needed, so please don't worry if we run over a little.

Can parents and siblings be included?

Absolutely - I love capturing family moments alongside your baby’s big milestone.
