Once your booking is confirmed, you'll receive my detailed Newborn Preparation Guide to ensure you feel calm, confident and ready for your session. Every experience is bespoke to your family; your session includes individual baby portraits, sibling and family groups, and even portraits with your much-loved pets - all at no extra charge.

During our time together, you will have access to my collection of props, blankets, fabrics and delicate headbands. You are also more than welcome to bring personal items that hold special meaning. About your Newborn Photography Session with Ellie J Photography

When should I book my newborn session?

To ensure a space in my diary, it is best to book your Coventry newborn photography session following your 20-week scan. Because I work at baby's pace, I only take a limited number of bookings per month to maintain a relaxed and high-quality experience for every family.

If your baby has already arrived, please do still get in touch as I occasionally have last-minute availability.

What does the £60 session fee include?

A session with an experienced, award-winning newborn photographer in Coventry

A relaxed, baby-led experience with plenty of time for feeding and soothing

A pre-session guide with tips and advice

Access to a wide range of props, colours, and styling options

Family, sibling, and pet portraits included if desired

Can we include our dog in the session?

Absolutely! As a specialist Coventry newborn photographer I understand that your dog is a cherished member of the family. I am one of the few photographers in the area with the necessary experience to safely include pets in your session.

Because safety is my priority, these portraits are more often than not created as 'composites' (where I merge two images together) to ensure your baby is never at risk.

What type of sessions do you offer?

I create both classic, posed newborn portraits and more natural, lifestyle-inspired images. This means I can photograph babies both in the first two weeks and slightly beyond, depending on the look you’d like.

What if my baby won't settle?

Please don't worry - this is the most common concern parents have. As a specialist with nearly 20 years of experience, I am well-versed in the 'art of the soothe.' My sessions are entirely baby-led and unhurried; because I only book one session per day, we have plenty of time for feeding and cuddles. I've been called the 'baby-whisperer' by many families, and I use gentle techniques to ensure your newborn photography experience in Coventry is the most relaxed morning you've had since your little one arrived.

How long will my session last?

There is absolutely no rushing; every session is completely baby-led. I recommend allowing up to 4 hours for a full newborn gallery, which ensures plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and cuddles. By working at your baby's pace, we can maintain a calm, stress-free environment that results in much more natural and beautiful portraits.

How long after our session will we see our proof images?

During particularly busy periods, your proof gallery will be delivered within four weeks of your session.

From 2026, I’ve introduced a streamlined proofing process and most families now receive their gallery within 7–10 days.

To ensure you can see exactly what your finished images will look like, a small selection of photographs are fully hand-edited. The remaining images are lightly prepared for viewing, and any images you choose to purchase are then individually and carefully fully edited before delivery.
