I am always telling people to GET THEIR DIGITAL FILES PRINTED! What happens if you lose your mobile phone, your laptop gets stolen or if future technology doesn’t give you the option to use your USB?

If you’ve paid for a newborn photographer don’t waste your money by letting those images languish in digital darkness, get them displayed and ensure you never forget this very important time in your lives!

You don’t just have to get your photos printed, framed, and hung. With a little creativity there are so many fun ways to show off those priceless images.

Personalised Photo Books

This is what I did every year at Christmas for my husband. Towards the end of each year I would spend a few days compiling our most favourite and memorable images from the previous 12 months which I would then turn into a photo book. What a great idea for your newborn photos! You can perhaps create a memory book containing images that show your baby’s progression from mum’s tum to birth day and those first precious weeks in the world meeting friends and family for the first time. If you have had professional newborn photographs taken, make sure you include them along with your own family snaps. There are endless companies offering digital photo books from professional print labs to those offering apps which you can use to get your mobile phone photos bound into a book.

Photo Collage

If you’re the crafty type you could choose to create a collage for your little one’s nursery, incorporating themes to match. For example, if your nursery is full of stuffed animals how about a safari theme? If you are blessed with a child who loves all things glittery and magical, what about a fairy theme? As your child grows they can get involved and help update the collage with you creating a truly personal masterpiece!

Gallery at Home

This again is something we have done in our house. Pick a wall in your home and turn it into a mini art gallery. You can mix and match frames of difference sizes, shapes, and colours to compliment your décor and create a truly chic look. If you are doing this in your child’s nursery, why not add some fun and personal elements like wooden letters to spell out their name?

Milestone Timeline

Another idea is to chart your baby’s growth by creating a timeline of photographs showcasing each milestone. Did you have maternity photos taken? You could start with a photo of your bump in all its glory before moving on to the newborn photos and then as time goes on, add images showing (for example) your baby’s first smile, first steps, and so on. Watching your baby's journey unfold in such photos is a wonderful way to treasure all those precious memories. You don’t have to put these in frames, it can be as simple as fixing a string along a wall and using mini clothes pegs to hang the images in the right order.

Memory Mobile

Another idea for the nursery! With a few wooden dowels, some string and your newborn baby photos you can easily make a memory mobile!

Simply attach the photos to the dowels using clips or mini clothes pegs, then hang them from the ceiling using the strings. Your baby will love watching their personalised memory mobile!

 Shadow Box Showcase

You can use your favourite newborn photographs to create a three-dimensional display. Choose a deep frame and arrange a few of your very favourite newborn images in there along with other important mementoes for example, your baby’s hospital tag, birth announcement or first booties.

Digital Photo Frame

In this digital age we have so much choice when it comes to displaying our photographs. When I was a child the only option for showcasing our family photos was to either have them in a photo album or a frame hung static on the wall. Not so these days! A high-tech digital photo frame allows you to display all of your newborn images in a live, moving slideshow, ensuring that you can remember every precious moment rather than just your favourite one or two. Plus, you can easily update the images as your little one grows, so the display will always be up to date.

Whether you prefer a simple frame or a whimsical photo collage, the most important thing is to get these precious memories off the memory stick or out of the cloud and into the real world. This way you can be sure you and your family are keeping your memories safe and never far from view.
