How to Prepare for a Cake Smash Session
If you book a cake smash session with Ellie J Photography, I will send you a PDF booklet detailing everything you need to bring. Here are a few tips to ensure everything runs smoothly on your baby's cake smash day.

Choose a Cake: (Some photographers will provide one). As mum to a son with a severe nut allergy, I have always asked parents to provide their own cake and recommend simple buttercream cakes, as they’re soft enough for little hands to grab and eat. Avoid anything that could be a choking hazard or be sharp. Finally, chocolate cakes don't make the best choice - all that brown icing may taste great, but it doesn't look brilliant smeared all over little hands and faces in the finished photos!

Plan the Outfit: From birthday crowns to tutu dresses, outfits can make or break the session’s look. I have a few simple outfits that my clients are welcome to use or alternatively, I’m happy to offer guidance on what works best should you wish to bring your own.
