Did I really post my last blog update at silly o'clock past one this morning? Why yes, I did. So today the white noise music I play in my studio almost had me falling asleep while I was settling this little chap.
When is the best time for a newborn shoot? Easy answer - between 5 and 10 days of age. At this young age baby is still very sleepy and very flexible and can be positioned into the lovely curled up newborn poses everyone wants these days. So what if you miss this window of opportunity? Does that mean you shouldn't come and have your baby's portrait taken?
Absolutely not. Ok - there will be some poses that I won't use for safety reasons once baby has passed a certain age, (not to mention the fact that little one will most likely have outgrown some of the props I use) - but as you can see below, you will still get some lovely photos.
This little chap came to see me today at 8 weeks of age. He was awake for most of the shoot, which was absolutely fine because we had some fantastic eye contact and as you can see, he has the most gorgeous blue eyes. We got some lovely smiley shots too - he is a big fan of daddy's singing voice.
Eventually he became bored with my company and fell into a deep enough sleep for me to get some lovely sleepy shots, so a great result all round!
In summary then - if you want curly, teeny-tiny newborn photos using all of my props - book in with me before your little one is ten days of age, but if you can't see me, then don't worry - you will still get some gorgeous photos of your lovely little bundle.
Thanks for reading and happy weekend everyone!
